Such as a DS-70000 or something else that could scan 11.5x100 paper. ![]() These viewers may be required to view the manuals on this archive. La 1000 Amplifier Free To UseIf anyone knows of additional suitable GIFJPEG viewers that are free to use, email me and I will include a link. If you have a better copy of any of these manuals or a manual which is not listed. Ease of use was emphasized in other reviews I used to help make my decision in purchasing this antenna and I can report it is indeed very easy to use. This amplifier features RF sensing for automatic band changing, so a transceiver band interface cable is not needed. This amplifier has a newly designed gray front panel and has an color TFT touch screen for amplifier display and operation. Although not required due to RF sense band changing capability, transceiver interface connectors are also provided on the rear panel. No tuning and auto band switching makes for easy band hopping during contests or just day-to-day. No band switching cable needed; the amp senses the frequency upon PTT and switches almost instantly. No endless menus with every possible setting -- just easy touchscreen operation. Started out on a 110v circuit and then wired a 220v circuit for the NEMA 6 220v power cable that comes with the amp. Full output on all bands into an 80-10m EFHW and a K4KIO Hex Beam. La 1000 Amplifier Update The DisplayMy only suggestion to Palstar is to update the display to show the output in numerical form rather than just a display bar with power scale below. Unless you absolutely must have 1.5kw or complete computer remote control, this is an ideal amplifier. It is very efficient with less than 50 watts drive required for full output. I found an off the shelf harness for Ameritron solid state to ICOM rigs (AMERITRON DB-7DI), although it works fine with the RF sensing only. The linear puts out a clean signal and I have received many good audio reports. The only problem Ive had so far with the linear is getting the black screen of death when powering up a few times. I was able to recover by unplugging the main power cord then plugging it back in, then restarting the amp. The low sunspot cycle has made for challenging conditions and this has made the difference between difficult qsos and pleasurable contacts. I know that antennas are the first thing to improve in a station when possible, but especially on 40,80 and 160 where huge yagis or verticals are just not feasible for many operators, this amp makes a big difference with wire antennas. At only 26 pounds it is easy to move around and situate in your shack.I hope I dont need any service soon but am somewhat comforted by the domestic manufacture and servicing. I also have been operating off standard 110 ac household current and am reliably getting 800 to 1000 watts out with 40 to 45 watts drive. I may have a 220 circuit placed in the future for increase efficiency but it was great to be able to plug it in and use immediately. As I own a Flex 6600 I looked at Flexs amp which appears to be very high quality, but just cant justify paying twice as much for what I believe would not be twice as good of an amp.
